Clermont Days filled Chattahoochee Park on September 18 and 19. The next event the town has posted for Main Street is the Christmas parade on Saturday, November 28. That leaves roughly ten weeks with no community events on Main Street. Meanwhile, the stretch of US-129 Cleveland Highway through town has quietly become the busiest place in Clermont.
Since July 2025, a diner-bakery and a Texas barbecue spot have opened along the highway. They joined a grill and a working dairy that were already there. If you're looking for breakfast, a weeknight dinner, a quart of milk, or a Saturday with the kids this fall in Clermont, you'll find it on Cleveland Highway or a few miles up SR 254, not downtown.
Main Street Hosts Two Big Nights a Year
The Town of Clermont uses one address for its biggest gatherings. The Chattahoochee Center and the Chattahoochee Park pavilion are both listed at 639 Main Street, and the pavilion can be rented with stage access.
At Clermont Days, that park fills up. The Gainesville Times photo coverage of Clermont Days 2025 showed vendors, live music, a tractor show, and fireworks, with the Saturday program running from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The 2026 edition ran from 4 p.m. Friday, September 18, through 9 p.m. Saturday, September 19.
After that, the town's October calendar shows council meetings. The next public event on the town calendar is the parade. Town Council now meets at 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m., at Town Hall, 649 Main Street.
So between festivals, everyday life in Clermont runs along the highway.
The Highway Picked Up Two New Kitchens in Four Months
Here's the Cleveland Highway lineup as of this fall, with the most recent sign each place is open:
| Place | Address | What it is | Most recent sign it's open |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three Heifers and a Hotplate | 380 Cleveland Hwy | Diner and bakery | Hours and online ordering on its website |
| Las Patronas Grill | 6443 Cleveland Hwy | Grill | County inspection dated Sept. 24, 2026 |
| Texas Smokehouse & Gourmet Shakes | 6483 Cleveland Hwy, Suite A | Texas-themed smokehouse | County inspection dated Aug. 7, 2026 |
| Mountain Fresh Creamery | 6615 Cleveland Hwy | Family dairy and creamery | Open seven days, per its site |
The two newcomers arrived close together. The Gainesville Times profiled Three Heifers and a Hotplate on July 30, 2025, and its photos from the day before show a busy lunch service at what the paper called a new Clermont restaurant. Three months later, on October 30, 2025, the same paper reported that Texas Smokehouse & Gourmet Shakes was hiring ahead of its opening at 6483 Cleveland Highway.
The smokehouse has kept going since then. Hall County food inspections recorded at that address scored 97 on January 2, 2026 and 97 again on August 7, 2026. Down the road at 6443, Las Patronas Grill shows up on the county's inspection list with a visit dated September 24, 2026. Neither place had published hours in the material we reviewed, so call ahead before you drive over.
Three Heifers Opens Before Sunrise
Three Heifers and a Hotplate calls itself "An Udderly Delicious Diner and Bakery." Its hours give it the widest daily window of any place on the highway. In the Gainesville Times profile, owner Ashley Taylor is described as someone who grew up working in restaurants.
The posted schedule on its website:
- Monday: closed
- Tuesday through Thursday: 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Sunday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The diner opens at 6 a.m. five days a week, so the highway's day starts there. It also stays open into the evening Friday through Sunday, which covers the hours after a day at a corn maze, and Sunday is the day that starts later. The site has a menu, online ordering, and gift cards.
The Creamery Was Here First
The new restaurants landed on a road that already had a well-known name. Mountain Fresh Creamery, at 6615 Cleveland Highway, is run by a family that describes itself as fourth-generation dairy farmers. It sells all-natural, non-homogenized milk, butter, ice cream, and meats from cows raised without added hormones or rBST.
The creamery is open seven days a week. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. It offers a limited number of farm tours, which have to be reserved 24 hours ahead, and the number is 770-983-1666.
The family has been clear about where it fits in town for years. In a 2015 Gainesville Times story on the creamery's growth, owner Scott Glover, who runs the farm with Jennifer Glover, said, "Folks know that our milk and our dairy products come from right here," and added that "our community wants that local product."
That's the backdrop for the newer arrivals. Before 2025, Cleveland Highway already had a reason to stop that drew people from beyond Clermont.
Keep Driving, and the Highway Leads to a Corn Maze
The weekend version of fall in Clermont runs a few miles farther, onto SR 254. Skitts Mountain Farms has a Cleveland address, 7883 SR 254, and opened its 2026 fall season on Friday, September 18, the same day Clermont Days started.
One ticket covers everything on the farm: corn maze, wagon ride, duck races, mini-golf, the Big Zipper, jumpy pillows, an obstacle course, tricycles for small children, and the flower field. Pumpkins, U-pick flowers, food, and drinks cost extra, and children two and under get in free.
Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Ticket prices for 2026 are $21 for the Yonah all-day pass, $18 for the Wauka walkers' pass, and $64.99 for an unlimited season pass, each plus 8% sales tax.
On Saturday nights in October, the corn maze turns into the Bigfoot Hunt. Guests go in with flashlights at dark and stay until the farm closes at 10 p.m. The October 10 hunt has already happened, and two remain this season. According to the farm, it keeps death and gore out of the hunt but uses darkness, fog machines, and jump scares. It recommends the hunt for kids of elementary school age and up and says it's intense for children five and under.
Skitts notes that weather can change its hours without notice and posts updates on social media.
