You can often find Joy around the board table of a local non-profit or volunteering with her family. Her passion for community service is a product of her 15 years of work in non-profit development.

Joy is a lifelong resident of Gainesville, deeply familiar with its places and people. Before joining Candler, Joy served as the Director of Marketing, Public Relations, and Communications for the Gainesville City School System. In her career, she has also served as Chief Administrator for Carroll Daniel Construction and led United Way of Hall County as its President and Chief Professional Officer. In her 20s, she found her calling as the Community Manager for the American Cancer Society, where she led the Hall County Relay for Life and the world’s largest Relay for Life in Gwinnett County.

Joy and her family attend Lanier Christian Church, where she serves as the worship leader for the lakeside service. She was named Gainesville Jaycees’ 2021 Young Woman of the Year and is a graduate of Leadership Hall County, Class of 2012, and Leadership Georgia, Class of 2024.

Joy currently serves as a Commissioner of the Gainesville Housing Authority, Commissioner of the City of Gainesville Nonprofit Development Foundation, and Advisory Board of the Truist Center for Ethical Leadership at the University of North Georgia Mike Cottrell College of Business. Joy is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville, where she served as president of the club in 2016. She is also a past president of the Gateway Domestic Violence Center, WomenSource, and Family Promise of Hall County. Her volunteer service is her passion, and her resume also includes the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Vision 2030 Committee, Good News Clinics Annual Gifts Committee Chair, American Heart Association Heart Walk Chair, Boy Scouts of America American Values Dinner Co-Chair, and Boys and Girls Club of Lanier Board of Directors.

Joy and her husband, Bryan Griffin, have two sons at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Go Jackets!
